Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United are reportedly determined to sign Adrien Rabiot in the summer transfer window.
According to Corriere dello Sport, Newcastle United have made an offer to Adrien Rabiot, who is out of contract at Juventus this summer.
The Premier League club have reportedly offered Rabiot an annual salary of €5 million (£82,000 per week).
Now, while it is €2 million (£1.71 million) less than what the France international midfielder is earning at Juventus at the moment, what Newcastle are banking on is their offer of UEFA Champions League football next season.
And the former Paris Saint-Germain midfielder reportedly wants to play in Europe’s premier club competition.
Could Newcastle United sign Adrien Rabiot?
In our view, if Newcastle United do not offer Adrien Rabiot more than what they have already done, then it is unlikely that they will be able to convince the midfielder to move to St. James’ Park in the summer transfer window.

After all, the 28-year-old – described as “a very complete player” who is “great both with and without the ball” by Barcelona head coach Xavi in Sportskeeda in 2017 – is at the top of his game now and is set to become free agent.
So, why would Rabiot take a pay-cut to join a club who may not be able to challenge for the Premier League top four on a regular basis?
Yes, Newcastle will play in the UEFA Champions League next season, but the likes of Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool will make it very hard for the Magpies to end up in the Premier League top four.
There is also speculation that Arsenal and Liverpool are keen on Rabiot.
So, it is hard to see Newcastle be able to temp Rabiot unless they offer him more salary.
