Xavi hinted that Tottenham Hotspur-linked star Adrien Rabiot could have been the ideal replacement for Andres Iniesta at Barcelona in 2017.

90 Min have claimed that Antonio Conte’s men are one of the many interested clubs in the Juventus midfielder.

The Frenchman looks set to depart the Serie A side, with his current contract set to expire in the summer.

As a result, many clubs including Tottenham are keen on signing Rabiot.

The fact that the 27-year-old shone at the World Cup is another reason why he has been linked with a transfer in recent weeks.

Operating alongside Aurelien Tchouameni and Antoine Griezmann, the ex-Paris Saint-Germain star lit up Qatar.

On the ball, Rabiot was typically impressive, as his technical elegance was on show for the world to appreciate.

But what impressed many observers was seeing how defensively robust the French international was throughout the tournament.

The former Manchester City youth starlet was omnipresent on the pitch, winning countless number of tackles and duels for fun.

Xavi hinted at Tottenham-linked Rabiot being the right player to replace Iniesta

In 2017, Xavi hinted at Tottenham-linked star Adrien Rabiot being the midfielder Barcelona should bring in to replace Andres Iniesta.

“Rabiot could play for Barcelona. He would adapt to Barcelona without any problems. He knows how to organise play, can defend, dribble and attack”, he said, as relayed by Sportskeeda.

“In short, he is a very complete player. He is great both with and without the ball.”

The Frenchman would be a risky signing for Tottenham

The reason why Adrien Rabiot is yet to cement his status as a world-class player is due to his inconsistency.

With this being the case at both PSG and Juventus, Tottenham could now become the victims of a player that is simply way too hot and cold.

If Rabiot can recreate his displays in Qatar for Spurs, lovely.

But if not, Tottenham will be in a right mess if they end up signing Adrien Rabiot.
