Newcastle United are reportedly interested in Middlesbrough talent Dael Fry, with other Premier League clubs keen on the Championship centre-back.

According to Planet Sport, the Toon join the likes of Burnley, Brighton and Hove Albion and Wolves in eyeing a move for the English talent. Fry has been a staple in the Middlesbrough XI since breaking into the senior squad from the academy.

Now aged 24, Fry has flourished under Chris Wilder in the Boro defence, and Premier League clubs are keeping tabs on the centre-back, with Newcastle now keen on taking the defender from the North Yorkshire club.

Middlesbrough are in the midst of a play-off push to return to the Premier League, and Fry’s upcoming performances could see the Championship side fetch a pretty price for their star defender, especially after his display against Antonio Conte’s Tottenham this week.

BBC Sport pundit Danny Murphy hailed the defender as ‘immaculate’ against Spurs in Middlesbrough’s latest FA Cup giant-killing, and with reports suggesting that Fry could be sold for as much as £30m, Newcastle could be tempted to move for the defender.

Indeed, centre-back will be a priority position for Boro this summer, with Eddie Howe already doing a sensational job at improving the backline since the closure of the January window, and Fry could be another piece to the puzzle for Newcastle.

Newcastle should be all over Fry with Premier League rivals keen

With Premier League clubs snooping around Fry, a move to the top-flight seems almost certain for the defender this summer, and for Newcastle, they should be making moves to sign the Middlesbrough star.

Howe has a great track record of improving talent from the Championship during his time with AFC Bournemouth, and Fry at Newcastle could be a similar success story for the Magpies boss next season.
