The Evening Standard claim David Moyes is willing to ‘listen to offers’ for West Ham defender Issa Diop this summer. The Frenchman has been in and out of the side and is arguably the club’s fourth-choice centre-back now.

The 25-year-old was only afforded 13 Premier League appearances during 2021-22 and it might have been less, had it not been for a season-long knee injury sustained by Angelo Ogbonna. The Italian is now back fit for 22-23.

Indeed, the Hammers are also in the market to add to Ogbonna, Craig Dawson and Kurt Zouma. But there is likely to be a big shake-up in defence, with Dean Jones reporting that doubt is emerging over Dawson’s future.

But Moyes has seemingly never been convinced by Diop – a player West Ham spent £22million (BBC) to sign from Toulouse in 2018. Now, the Standard claim the Hammers are ready to ‘listen to offers’ for him.

West Ham to ‘listen to offers’ for Diop: He needs a move this summer

Diop is not fancied by Moyes and it is clear that the Scottish gaffer will be remaining at the London Stadium for some time. He has guided the Hammers into the Europa League semi-final, and another season in Europe.

While Diop would certainly get game time in the Conference League, he will struggle to play regularly. At his age, his career has hit a bit of a standstill. That is, despite Moyes saying he is a “really good player” in February.

What kind of price should the Hammers request? They will struggle to get anything close to the fee they paid for him. But if they can engineer a fee of between £10million and £15million, then it is worth accepting.
