Journalist Dean Jones has told Give Me Sport there is ‘doubt’ emerging over the future of West Ham man Craig Dawson. The experienced defender has been crucial in a brilliant season for the Hammers, achieving Europe.
Dawson, 32, has been a man mountain at the back for West Ham this season. Clocking up 50 appearances, he has been pivotal in their run to the Europa League semi-final. Dawson has also proved his worth in the league.
In those 50 games, he has helped West Ham keep 15 clean sheets – while at the other end, he has had a hand in six goals, scoring four and laying on two assists. His threat in the opposition box has been up there with the best.

Dawson, who is set to enter his third year at West Ham after initially joining on loan in 2020, is about to enter the last 12 months of his contract. Jones says there is ‘doubt emerging’ over the future of the uncapped Englishman.
“There is emerging doubt over whether Craig Dawson remains at the club too, despite the 32-year-old’s Europa League heroics this term,” Jones wrote on Give Me Sport’s website, in a preview of West Ham’s summer window.
Dawson future in doubt at West Ham: Hammers must tie him down
Dawson is a player that must be kept. He has only just turned 32 this month and given the position he plays, youth is hardly a necessity as long as he has a quicker partner at centre-back. Kurt Zouma and Issa Diop, for example.
His experience, leadership, organisation and power in the air – in either box – makes him absolutely crucial for the Hammers. Declan Rice has even called him a “machine”. Moyes has got to tie him down to a new contract.
