Tottenham look set to hold on to Dele Alli as the deadline draws near

It appears that long-running Dele Alli transfer saga is coming to an end.
The 24-year-old had been expected to complete a loan move to PSG in this transfer window, but it is now being reported that the deal has collapsed.
Alli has struggled to earn a regular place in Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham side this season, and the midfielder has made only four Premier League appearances during the current campaign.
The Daily Mail had reported that Alli, who has made 37 appearances for the English national team, had been allowed to leave by Mourinho.
They said that the stumbling block was Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy, who would only sanction a move if the club were able to find a replacement.

The report also claimed that Christian Eriksen had been discussed with a view to the player returning from Inter Milan, but that the 28-year-old Dane would cost too much.
On Monday afternoon, journalist Fabrizio Romano tweeted: “Dele Alli > PSG deal is *not* happening. Definitely collapsed.
“The player was pushing to leave Spurs but Tottenham refused to let him go because they didn’t find a replacement. It’s over.”
Romano told Sky Sports: “It’s too late (for the Dele Alli deal to happen). I’m told the deal collapsed because there is no agreement between Tottenham and PSG.
“The agreement was almost ready but the problem is Tottenham have no replacement for Dele Alli and the Tottenham owner, Daniel Levy, doesn’t want to let him go without a replacement.
“They were trying, again, during the weekend, to get Christian Eriksen back from Inter Milan, but Inter said no to the last bid. They want to keep the player. And that is why Alli is not joining Paris Saint-Germain.
“It was not easy for (Eriksen) to adapt to a different club and country, and in particular the manager Antonio Conte – he loves fighters and not just quality players. So he’s had a lot of problems with the manager.

“But the situation has changed in the last two weeks, also because Inter need another midfielder, so now he’s not playing as a No 10, he’s playing in the middle of the pitch in place of Marcelo Brozovic and he’s doing so well.
“He scored an important goal in the Coppa Italia against AC Milan. That’s why Inter said no to Tottenham.”
