Arsenal are interested in signing Jesse Lingard from Manchester United in the summer of 2021, according to The Sun.

Lingard, who can operate as an attacking midfielder or as a winger, is on loan at West Ham from Premier League rivals United at the moment.

West Ham manager David Moyes wants to make the 28-year-old’s loan deal permanent in the summer of 2021, according to The Sun.

The report has added that the Hammers do not want to sell Declan Rice to United despite the Red Devils’ interest in the England international midfielder, and this has opened the door for Arsenal to make their move.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is planning ‘a shock raid’ for the 28-year-old, who is considering leaving United for good and would prefer to stay in the Premier League despite interest from AS Roma, according to the report.

Good signing for Arsenal?

Lingard struggled in the first half of the season at United, but the England international has done well for West Ham during his loan spell so far and recently earned a recalled to the Three Lions’ squad.

According to WhoScored, the 28-year-old has scored six goals and provided three assists in eight Premier League games for West Ham.

Emile Smith Rowe and Martin Odegaard as the two main creative midfielders in the Arsenal squad, but both are very young and the latter is actually on loan from Real Madrid.

Lingard – described by West Ham manager David Moyes as “terrific” on Sky Sports last month – has extensive Premier League experience, and he is now demonstrating what he can do if he is played regularly and shown confidence by his manager.

However, with the 28-year-old earning £110,000 per week as salary, according to The Sun, Arsenal need to think carefully before making a commitment.
