Derby County and Aston Villa have already been credited with interest in another Middlesbrough midfielder.
Adam Clayton isn’t the only Middlesbrough midfielder interesting Derby County and Aston Villa, according to the Northern Echo.
The Yorkshire Post reported earlier this week that both clubs are monitoring Clayton, along with several other Championship clubs.
And the Northern Echo claims the 28-year-old’s teammate Adam Forshaw is also ‘on the radar’ of Derby and Villa, as new boss Tony Pulis prepares to discuss trimming his squad with Middlesbrough chairman Steve Gibson.
Neither Clayton nor Forshaw, who were regulars as Boro dropped out of the Premier League last season, have featured in either of Pulis’ two games in charge.
However, the Welshman may be wary of losing the pair to a promotion rival such as Derby or Aston Villa.
Bottom club Sunderland have also been credited with interest in Clayton and Forshaw (Northern Echo), with 16th-placed Sheffield Wednesday another said keen on the former.
Wednesday failed with a deadline day move for Forshaw, according to the Daily Mirror.
