According to The Scottish Sun, Rangers-linked Barry Douglas has been offered a deal by Brescia following his release by Leeds United.

Douglas spent last season on loan at Blackburn Rovers, but they won’t sign him permanently having already landed Harry Pickering from Crewe Alexandra.

Leeds have decided to let Douglas go at the end of his deal, and former Whites chairman Massimo Cellino is now making his move.

Brescia make their move

It’s now stated that Brescia have offered a deal to Douglas in the hope of luring the 31-year-old to Italy in a shock move.

The Scot has had two spells abroad before, first joining Lech Poznan from Dundee United in 2013 before heading to Turkey with Konyaspor.

Douglas has shown a willingness to move outside of Scotland or England, and this move would see him play under Massimo Cellino.

The ex-Leeds owner is now in charge at Brescia, and whilst he had left Leeds by the time Douglas arrived, he could still sign the left back.

Rangers could miss out on Douglas

Branded ‘high quality’ by Tony Mowbray, Douglas won’t be short of offers this summer having become a free agent, and Rangers have been linked.

The Lancashire Telegraph noted earlier this month that Rangers and Celtic both fancy signing Douglas for free, with Douglas a boyhood Rangers fan – so a move to Ibrox would surely appeal.

Now though, it looks like Brescia are pushing themselves to the front of the queue, with Rangers potentially missing out.
