Manchester United are interested in signing Nathan Ake from Manchester City in the summer transfer window, according to The Sun.
What’s the story?
Well, apparently, United are looking to sign a central defender this summer.
Real Madrid’s Raphael Varane and Pau Torres of Villarreal are high on the list.
Ake is also a player United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer likes.
Solskjaer is reportedly ‘a big fan’ of the Netherlands international central defender, who cost City £40 million when they signed him from Bournemouth last summer.
Could a transfer happen?
The Sun claims that Ake is ‘growing frustrated’ at his lack of regular first-team football at City.
If you look at the stats, you will understand why.
The 26-year-old made nine starts and one substitute appearance in the Premier League in 2020-21.
The former Chelsea man played just twice in the Champions League.
However, it is unlikely that City will sell Ake to United.

The Red Devils finished second in the Premier League table this past season.
City manager Pep Guardiola will surely not want to send one of his players to United and make them stronger.
Moreover, Ake has been linked with Tottenham Hotspur, with reports suggesting that he could be used in a deal to sign Harry Kane.
Now, that’s a transfer deal that is more likely.
