The Scottish Express claim both Newcastle United and Manchester City are interested in raiding Rangers for Ibrox wonderkid Alex Lowry this summer. Lowry’s current deal in Glasgow ends in the summer of 2023.

Lowry, 18, is considered one of the best talents coming through the ranks at Rangers right now. He has already broken into the senior side, playing four times at senior level – even scoring on his debut against Stirling Albion.

That was in the Scottish Cup and Lowry has since played three times in Rangers’ run to the final – an unused sub against Celtic. He also got 90 minutes in a 1-0 win over Livingston in the Scottish Premiership in January.

Speaking about Lowry’s future at Ibrox, van Bronckhorst recently told reporters that talks are underway to extend his contract. Now, the Scottish Express claim both Newcastle and Manchester City want to sign him.

Newcastle, Manchester City eye Lowry: Best move for Rangers ace?

Rangers is his best move. Lowry has only just broke into the senior side and with lots of chances of game time at Ibrox under van Bronckhorst – he has to stay, especially as Rangers are in Europe and challenging for titles.

A move to Newcastle or City would immediately see him relegated to the reserves, playing in Premier League 2. He has already shown he needs to be playing senior football, and his best chance of that is at Ibrox with Rangers.
