According to the Mail, Rafa Benitez doesn’t want to become the new Nottingham Forest manager if Steve Cooper is sacked.
It was reported by The Telegraph earlier this week that Cooper was on the brink of the sack and that Benitez is being lined up to replace the Welshman, but the Spaniard isn’t keen on heading to the City Ground.
To be fair, we can’t blame Benitez for not wanting this job.
The Spaniard’s last two Premier League jobs have been against a backdrop of backroom anarchy at Newcastle and Everton, and we’re sure he’s keen to go to a club that is more steady right now – and Forest aren’t that team.

Indeed, after spending £150m in the summer on over 20 signings, Forest’s squad has found it impossible to gel, while there is also turmoil behind the scenes as Evangelos Marinakis is reportedly preparing to sack a number of senior backroom figures at the City Ground.
Joining a club that is seemingly this unstable wouldn’t be a wise career move for Benitez who is probably one bad job away from never being employed at this level ever again.
The Spaniard took Everton to the brink of relegation in his last role, and he may be powerless to avoid the same fate with Forest if he were to take the job at the City Ground due to the sheer lack of cohesion in the squad.
Forest may well need a new manager in the coming weeks, but it looks as though we won’t be seeing Benitez in the dugout on the River Trent anytime soon.
Benitez may well be headed to the Midlands though. The Wolves job is available where he’d be a great fit, while Richard Keys is led to believe that the Spaniard has already applied to replace Brendan Rodgers at Leicester City.
