According to Sport, Barcelona are reluctant to let Antoine Griezmann join Atletico Madrid – and that could be a huge boost for Liverpool as they chase Saul.
Liverpool fans may even find it funny that the reason behind Barcelona’s stance surrounds ex-Reds strikers Luis Suarez.
Barcelona have received major criticism for allowing Suarez to join Atletico last summer, as he then fired Diego Simeone’s men to the La Liga title.
Barca don’t want a repeat performance be sending Griezmann to Atletico too, potentially ruling out any swap deal involving Saul.
Mundo Deportivo reported over the weekend that Barcelona were considering an exchange, bringing Atletico midfielder Saul to the Camp Nou whilst offloading Griezmann’s huge wages to Atletico.
That seemingly won’t be happening now with Barca fearing a Suarez repeat – and that plays right into Liverpool’s hands.

Mundo Deportivo have noted that Liverpool are in talks to sign Saul, offering £34million to bring him to Anfield – just £8million short of the £42million asking price.
Saul, 26, has been a key part of Diego Simeone’s side in recent times, racking up almost 350 appearances for Atletico whilst recording 43 goals and 19 assists.
The Spaniard could add real quality to the Liverpool midfield if the Reds can pull a deal off – and, in some way, they would have Suarez to thank if it happens.
