Liverpool are in talks to bring Saul Niguez to Anfield, according to Mundo Deportivo.
Liverpool make bid
According to Mundo Deportivo, Liverpool have made a bid to Atletico Madrid to sign Saul.
The former Premier League champions have offered €40 million (£34.17m) as transfer fee for the Spain international midfielder.
Atletico have turned down that offer and want €50 million (£42.72m) as transfer fee for the 26-year-old.
Barcelona a threat
It is not just Liverpool who want to sign Saul.
Barcelona are also reported to be keen on the 26-year-old, who has won the La Liga title once and the Europa League twice with Atletico.
The Spanish giants have proposed a swap deal involving Antoine Griezmann, and that interests Atletico and their head coach Diego Simeono.
The 30-year-old France international forward was on the books of Atletico from 2014 until 2019 before he made the move to Barcelona.

Liverpool still in talks
However, according to Mundo Deportivo, Liverpool are still in talks with Atletico over the signing of Saul.
Money talks, and even though the La Liga champions like the proposal from Barcelona, if Liverpool increase their offer to €50 million (£42.72m), then they could be able to secure the services of Saul.
Georginio Wijnaldum has left for Paris Saint-Germain, and Saul could replace the dynamic midfielder in the team.
