According to The Athletic, Liverpool have told Ben Davies that he is not available for transfer this summer, despite the fact he’s been linked with a move away.
Indeed, the centre-half has been linked to the likes of Celtic in recent weeks, but the Anfield outfit seemingly have no plans to cash in on the 25-year-old.
This is an interesting update, especially when you consider that Davies has never played a single game for Liverpool since joining the club in spite of the Reds’ centre-back injury issues last season.
So, what will the plan be for Davies?
Well, Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip will presumably be the club’s first-choice centre-halves, while Fabinho can also play there if needed, so it may be another season on the bench for Davies sadly.
However, that isn’t the Reds’ confirmed plan, and the fact that the Anfield outfit have told him that he’s not for sale this summer may indicate that they have a bigger idea in mind for the former Preston North End man.
Klopp certainly rates him, previously describing him as a ‘really good’ player, so there may be scope for him to get a chance this season.
Hopefully, Davies at least gets to make his Anfield debut in this upcoming season.
