Fabrizio Romano has said that Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool are now actively trying to sign Romeo Lavia, but Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are pushing as well.
The Italian journalist has said on his YouTube channel that both Liverpool and Arsenal are interested in signing Romeo Lavia from Southampton in the summer transfer window.
Romano has claimed that Liverpool are now in direct contact with Southampton and defensive midfielder Lavia.
However, Arsenal are also pushing for the 19-year-old Belgium international defensive midfielder, according to the reporter.
Romano said, as transcribed by TBR: “Liverpool are now into the race and as I already mentioned, they are into this. They are working on Romeo Lavia and they are now having direct contacts on both player and club side.
“So, Liverpool and Arsenal are into the race and the two clubs pushing. It’s crucial to say though for Liverpool that despite signing Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai, there is still the desire to bring in new players.
“A defensive midfielder, like Lavia. So, Romeo Lavia is now a target for Liverpool. Southampton are demanding around £50m, which is why there’s been no bid yet.”

Liverpool or Arsenal for Romeo Lavia?
In our opinion, Liverpool are more likely than Arsenal to be able to sign Romeo Lavia from Southampton in the summer transfer window.
That the Merseyside club are in talks with the Saints and the midfielder shows that they are really serious about him.
TalkSPORT have reported that Liverpool are now planning to make a bid for the teenager.
Arsenal are trying to get a deal done for Declan Rice from West Ham United at the moment.
And the Gunners also gave Thomas Partey and Granit Xhaka on their books at the moment.
So, unless they can offload Partey and/pr Xhaka and also complete the deal for Rice, Arsenal may not be able to or willing to put in a bid for Lavia.
