The Athletic report that Liverpool are the latest club to show interest in Lille midfielder Amadou Onana – along with West Ham, Newcastle, Nottingham Forest and Arsenal this summer. West Ham have had a bid rejected.
Onana, 20, joined Lille last summer and instantly became a crucial part of their Ligue 1 side. Playing 41 times in his first season for the French side, as well as breaking into Roberto Martinez’s Belgium squad ahead of the World Cup.
Reports claim that Lille are requesting an enormous figure of £50million for Onana. It comes after David Moyes saw a £25million bid rejected for Onana this summer. However, London remains his most-likely destination.

That is according to The Athletic, who also state that Liverpool are now in the running – alongside Newcastle, Forest and Arsenal. The Reds could do with another midfielder in the middle of the park ahead of the 22-23 season.
Liverpool show interest in Onana: West Ham have had bid rejected
Jurgen Klopp may have decided that a midfielder is required for a number of reasons. Naby Keita has not hit the heights expected of him and is in the final year of his contract. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is the same.
Curtis Jones endured a tricky season plagued by injury. As a rotational option last season, his form was up and down. James Milner has penned a new deal but he is 37. Thiago and Jordan Henderson are both in their thirties.
The Reds have already signed young talent in Calvin Ramsay, Darwin Nunez and Fabio Carvalho. Onana fits the bill in terms of the age of players they are signing. But at £50million, might he prove too expensive?
