According to Tutto Udinese, Liverpool have edged ahead of Inter Milan in the race to sign Rodrigo de Paul, with finances playing a key role.

How so? Well, Tutto Udinese claim that the Reds are willing to put at least €30 million (£26 million) on the table for the 19-cap Argentina international.

Crucially, the report adds that Inter Milan do not seem to be able to match such an offer, due to their delicate financial situation.

While that is all well and good for Liverpool, it doesn’t seem like £26 million would be enough to convince Udinese to part with their talisman.

Tutto Udinese state that the Serie A outfit want no less than €40 million (£34.8 million) for the 26-year-old, who is no stranger to another Premier League side.

Leeds were heavily linked with the Sarandí-born star over the summer, with club CEO Angus Kinnear revealing that De Paul had an interest in moving to Elland Road.

However, no move materialised for the South American and he remained in Italy, where he has made 24 appearances this season.

In those outings, the Udinese No.10 has scored five goals and recorded four assists.

Tutto Udinese mentioned that Liverpool have been watching De Paul for a while now, so could they finally get their man this summer? We’ll just have to wait and see.
