According to Frankfurter Rundschau, Liverpool and Tottenham held intense negotiations with Nantes over the signing of Randal Kolo Muani.
What’s the story?
Well, Liverpool and Tottenham seemed desperate to bring the 23-year-old to the Premier League.
However – to our surprise – they both lost out on Muani to Eintracht Frankfurt, who wrapped up a pre-contract agreement for the forward.
Frankfurter Rundschau describe the deal as a major coup for the Bundesliga side, who may not have expected to fend off competition of this magnitude.
AC Milan and Borussia Dortmund were also interested in Muani.
Fabio Paratici – Director of Football at Tottenham – is said to have viewed the France international as a bargain.
Muani has put his name in the headlines this season after scoring eight goals and providing four assists in 23 appearances.
Liverpool and Tottenham could regret this

In a few years, the Reds and Spurs may kick themselves for missing out on Muani.
The Frenchman has huge potential, and his ability has even drawn comparisons to Paris Saint-Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe.
At Eintracht Frankfurt, Muani will have a good platform to express himself at the club where Luka Jovic and Sebastien Haller made names for themselves.

As a result, Jürgen Klopp and Antonio Conte – should they still be at their respective clubs – may baulk at the forward’s value in a few years.
Nevertheless, Liverpool shouldn’t be too concerned after they wrapped up the signing of Luis Diaz from Porto – at the expense of Spurs.
The north Londoners failed to sign a goalscorer like Diaz and Muani, but they did manage to find a source of creativity in Dejan Kulusevski.
Keep an eye on Muani’s progress, as we feel he’ll thrive in Germany.
