According to Sport1, Filip Kostic is now considering signing a new Eintracht Frankfurt contract amid recent links to Tottenham Hotspur.

The Serbian wing-back has been the subject of lots of speculation after his starring role in Frankfurt’s Europa League win last season, but it looks like he may be set to stay in Germany.

Indeed, while Tottenham have shown an interest, their capture of Ivan Perisic has seemingly thrown the breaks on that potential deal, and now, Kostic is considering a new contract.

The left-footer’s current deal was due to expire next summer, but now, he could commit to staying in Frankfurt until 2026.

To be honest, we can understand why.

Kostic certainly suits Frankfurt’s style of play, and while the Bundesliga outfit aren’t one of Europe’s traditional giants, this is a team on the up, and after their Europa League triumph last term, a Champions League run is certainly within their sights.

If Frankfurt can keep this team together, there’s no reason why they can’t emulate Villarreal and make a real go if it in the Champions League. After all, they did eliminate Xavi’s Barcelona from the Europa League this term.

Of course, keeping this team together may be easier said than done. Daichi Kamada is being targeted by Leeds United, while Martin Hinteregger’s shock retirement has left them short in the defence.

Luckily though, Kostic looks set to stay, and while that is a blow for the likes of Tottenham, Frankfurt will be over the moon to be keeping 29-year-old at the club.
