The Athletic’s Phil Hay claims Leeds were considering a move for Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah, but he is now set to sign a new contract. Nketiah spent the first half of the 19-20 season at Leeds, under Marcelo Bielsa.
Nketiah, 23, has struggled for regular game time at Arsenal all season. But he started the last eight Premier League games for the Gunners, scoring five goals including a brace at Chelsea. It is enough to convince him to sign on.

That is according to The Athletic, who also report that Leeds were eyeing a possible reunion with Nketiah this summer. The London-born star remains out of contract at the end of June, but a new deal is more than likely.
Leeds are likely to be after a striker and the interest in Nketiah shows a willingness to bring one in. But any hope of Nketiah returning to Elland Road, a player well-liked in the Leeds squad, is now dead in the water.
Leeds considered Arsenal striker Nketiah: New deal ends chances
It would have been a smart move. Nketiah is now available to talk to other English clubs but it looks as though he will be signing a new contract with Arsenal. Hay has said they want a striker from the Premier League.
Is Nketiah making the right move to stay at Arsenal? The Gunners are in the market for Manchester City’s Gabriel Jesus, and the belief is that they are planning on using Nketiah and Jesus as the club’s main two options.
Jesus is in the final year of his contract at Manchester City and a move to Arsenal is likely. Nketiah – branded a “complete player” by Bielsa in 2019 – may find himself benched in the Premier League next season, at Arsenal.
