According to The Sun, Leeds United chiefs are worried that rivals clubs could make a move for Patrick Bamford.
Bamford has 18 months left on his current contract at Leeds, and the club’s bosses are reportedly fearful that other clubs could be interested in the former Chelsea and Nottingham Forest striker.
The Premier League club hope to start talks over a new deal with the 27-year-old striker soon, according to the report, which has added that his current salary of £35,000 per week will be raised.
Sensible plan
Bamford has been very good for Leeds over the years and has established himself as one of the first names on the teamsheet.
According to WhoScored, the 27-year-old has scored 10 goals and provided two assists in 17 Premier League matches for the Whites so far this season, and scored 16 goals and gave two assists in the Championship in 2019-20.
Described by former Manchester United star Gary Neville as “incredible” on Sky Sports Football (5:52pm, December 20, 2020), Bamford will be massive for the Whites in the coming months and years. A new contract for the Englishman would make sense.
