According to The Athletic, staff members at Leeds aren’t actually convinced that one man has had a single day off yet this summer.
What’s the story?
You probably guessed it by the picture – it is, of course, Marcelo Bielsa.
The Argentine workhorse never stops. Those who work at Elland Road have shared the claim with Phil Hay which, if true, is quite unbelievable.
Clearly, Bielsa is keen to improve on last season’s ninth place finish in the Premier League.
The Athletic add that pre-season has been as full throttle as ever, with double – and even triple – sessions thrown in.
Bielsa has also made his players endure more murderball, while some sessions have even finished late into the evening.
Bielsa burnout?
You’ve probably heard this phrase mentioned hundreds of times from pundits who don’t quite know what they’re on about.
As far as we’re concerned, Bielsa burnout is a myth – Leeds won seven of their last ten Premier League games in 2020/21.
However, in this instance, we’re talking about Bielsa burnout more literally, in regards to the man himself.
Being a football manager is stressful work, so we’re quite concerned to hear that the £154,000-a-week man may not have had a single day off.
Of course, Bielsa knows his body best, and is clearly hungry to improve on last season’s efforts.
Hopefully, he finds a day or two to put his feet up in the Yorkshire sunshine.
