Leeds United have returned with a new move for Cagliari midfielder Nahitan Nandez after talks over a move to Inter Milan stalled.
That’s according to Tuttomercatoweb, who claim that Leeds are ‘back strongly’ in the race to sign Nandez before the transfer deadline later this month.
Leeds are believed to have ‘resumed contact’ with Cagliari in an attempt to swoop in and get Nandez signed with Inter unable to secure a deal.
Inter do have a little more wiggle room financially with Romelu Lukaku now sold to Chelsea, but their inability to agree a deal with Cagliari may let Leeds in.
Corriere Dello Sport reported in June that Leeds were ‘very close’ to signing Nandez for around £30million, but no deal was done.
Centotrentuno then claimed in July that Leeds director of football Victor Orta had travelled to Sardinia to try and finalise a deal for Nandez.

Again, no deal was done.
The links have gone quiet since then, maybe pointing towards Orta backing away from a deal for the Uruguayan international.
Yet with Leeds’ midfield struggling against Manchester United on Saturday, maybe Leeds now feel they need to go all out for another option in the middle of the park – and Nandez appears to be back on the wish list if these reports from Italy are true.
