According to The Athletic, Liverpool have beaten Leeds to the signing of Celtic wonderkid Ben Doak, with the deal believed to be worth £600,000.
What’s the story?
Well, Leeds tried very hard to sign the 16-year-old, and even offered him better personal terms than Liverpool, according to The Athletic.
However, Doak has his heart set on making it at Anfield, so he was therefore happy to accept a lower salary.
Celtic are owed the £600,000 sum as a compensation fee, although that won’t ease the pain of losing such an exciting talent.
Doak has already made two first-team appearances for the Bhoys, as Ange Postecoglou handed him a debut against Dundee United in January.
The teenager also featured in the Old Firm derby clash with Rangers, of all games, as Celtic tried to convince him to stay.
Unfortunately for the Hoops, Doak was keen to test himself in England, and he’s now signed for Liverpool.
Ben Doak can thrive at Liverpool

One admirable thing about Jürgen Klopp is that he doesn’t care what age you are – as far as the German is concerned, if you’re good enough, you’re old enough.
The 54-year-old has already handed debuts to Harvey Elliott, Curtis Jones, Conor Bradley, Neco Williams, Tyler Morton, Ben Woodburn, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and many more during his time at Anfield.
If Doak – who Postecoglou called “fantastic” – catches his eye, he has just a good a chance at making the first-team as anybody does.

Additionally, his commitment will please Klopp.
Specifically, the fact he’s accepted a lower salary than he would’ve got at Leeds should stand him in good stead with staff members at Liverpool.
By all accounts, Liverpool have got themselves a gem.
