Leeds were linked with a move for striker Mbakogu over the weekend.

Sky Italy journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has claimed Leeds United have made “a general agreement” with Serie B side Carpi for the signing of striker Jerry Mbakogu.
TuttoMercatoWeb claimed over the weekend that Leeds had scouted the powerful forward on Saturday, as the 25-year-old scored in a 2-1 win over Spezia to take his tally for the season to eight from 20 outings.

Now, it is believed that Leeds have agreed a deal to sign Nigerian striker Mbakogu, in a deal said to be worth £3.5million while an agreement has also been struck with the player.
However, Di Marzio claims there could be trouble over Mbakogu’s passport in what could prove to be a huge stumbling block, with it unclear whether the striker has the necessary papers to be allowed to play in England.

Following Carpi’s relegation to Serie B in 2015-16, Mbakogu has remained his side’s focal point as he continues to spearhead the attack in a side that remain four points behind fourth-placed Parma in ninth position.
He managed just two goals in 24 appearances in Serie A during the year his side were relegated, but his goalscoring form has improved since returning to the second tier of Italian football. Mbakogu’s contract expires in June 2020.
