Sunderland have reportedly beaten Sheffield Wednesday to the signing of Jack Baldwin from Peterborough United in the summer transfer window.

According to The Sunderland Echo, Sunderland have agreed a fee with League One rivals Peterborough over the transfer off Baldwin, and that the defender will undergo a medical with the Black Cats today.
Sheffield Wednesday to miss out?
Peterborough chairman Darragh MacAnthony recently told the club’s official YouTube channel that Baldwin is high up on Wednesday’s wishlist (click here to read more).
With The Sunderland Echo now reporting that the 25-year-old, who can also operate as a midfielder, is set to undergo a medical with Sunderland today, it seems that Championship side Wednesday will miss out on the former Hartlepool United star.

Good signing for Sunderland?
Baldwin is one of the best defenders in League One, and the 25-year-old would be a brilliant signing for Sunderland.
The Black Cats will be aiming to win automatic promotion from League One next season after getting relegated from the Championship at the end of the 2017-18 campaign.
