Inter Milan are reportedly interested in signing Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah, with Leeds United and Tottenham both making moves to also land the 23-year-old centre-back in recent days.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, the Nerazzurri have made the Blues youngster their priority for the remainder of the summer as Inter look to sign a defender before the closure of the transfer window, though Inter face competition for Chalobah’s signature from Premier League sides Leeds and Tottenham.
Reports suggest that both clubs are interested in Chalobah, who is set to leave Chelsea following the arrival of Kalidou Koulibaly and Thomas Tuchel’s plan to sign another centre-back, with Leeds and Tottenham both reportedly making contact recently to sign the England youth international.
Chalobah was one of the Premier League’s breakout stars last season when the defender was surprisingly given a first-team role after returning from a year in France on loan, with the versatile youngster making 31 appearances in all competitions and scoring an impressive three goals.
However, as goes the way at Chelsea, Chalobah is now set to leave the west London side with the Blues keen to spend big on a centre-back that can fill the void left by Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen, and one of Inter, Leeds and Tottenham could now benefit from this development.
A Premier League move could entice Chalobah given how impressive the defender was in the division last season, however, signing for Inter might be the centre-back’s preferred choice given just how big the Serie A giants are and how likely it is Simone Inzaghi’s side could challenge for trophies this season.
Chalobah should be pushing for Inter signing this week
Interest from Leeds and Antonio Conte’s Tottenham are intriguing options for Chalobah, yet with Inter now in the race for the player’s signature, the San Siro side are easily the best pick for the England defender given the opportunities that will be on offer for the Chelsea star.
Chalobah will likely become a regular for Inter, and given how successful fellow Cobham academy graduate Fikayo Tomori has done at AC Milan, the Chelsea youngster could become the next English talent to thrive abroad, with Serie A perfect for the youngster’s game.
