The 48-year-old had left AS Roma at the end of last season.
The Portuguese was in talks with Tottenham, and it did appear that he was set to become the new head coach of the North London club.
However, Tottenham have decided to call off talks.
This has left Fonseca ‘stunned’, according to the report.
The Guardian are reporting that Tottenham are now in talks with Gennaro Gattuso over taking charge of the first team.
What now for Paulo Fonseca?
From BBC Sport‘s report, it is clear that Fonseca did not expect their sudden turn of events.
The Portuguese must have been looking forward to working at Spurs.
However, it does not seem that Fonseca will have to wait for long to find a new club.
La Gazzetta dello Sport are reporting that Fiorentina are interested in making the Portuguese their new manager.
Interestingly, Gattuso has only just left Fiorentina after just over three weeks in charge of the Italian club.
It will be interesting to see how Gattuso does if indeed he becomes the new Tottenham manager.
