Jahm Najafi’s MSP Sports Capital-led consortium could buy Tottenham Hotspur from ENIC if they are willing to pay £1 billion more, according to journalist Miguel Delaney’s Reading the Game newsletter in The Independent (1pm, February 17, 2023).
The journalist has reported that Jahm Najafi’s MSP Sports Capital-led’s valuation of Tottenham is way off ENIC.
According to Delaney, the reason is that Tottenham have one of the best stadiums in the world.
And that is driving up the price of Tottenham.
Tottenham have been linked with a sale.
There is speculation that Tottenham chiefs Joe Lewis and Daniel Levy are expecting a takeover bid from MSP Sports Capital in the coming weeks.
According to the Financial Times, billionaire Jahm Najafi will launch a bid of $3.75 billion (3.12 billion) to buy Tottenham.
Tottenham Hotspur – MSP sale rumours
Delaney wrote: “In a similar story, and it is not a coincidence that there are so many at this time, the widespread feeling is that Jahm Najafi’s MSP Sports Capital-led consortium will not be buying Tottenham Hotspur.
“Their valuation is way off ENIC’s, with over a £1bn of difference.
“That is largely because of one factor which also contributes to the public stance that Spurs are not for sale.
“The new Stadium has been a masterstroke. An expensive masterstroke, sure, but one that is so valuable to the long-term future of the club.
“Its ultra-modern construction means it is already seen as one of the primary money-makers in football over the next decade.
“It is also a long way from Old Trafford, in make-up more than distance.”

What now for Tottenham?
In our view, it is unlikely that Tottenham Hotspur will be sold anytime soon.
If the owners have not publicly said that they will sell Spurs, then it is unlikely that they will do so unless they get a massive offer.
We know that Manchester United and Liverpool are for sale.
And it is possible that in the coming years ENIC will put up Spurs for sale as well.
But not now.
Tottenham are one of the biggest clubs in England, and given their world-class stadium, they will be hugely attractive to a lot of buyers.
