According to The Athletic, several voices in Arsenal’s recruitment structure are making a case for signing Dominic Calvert-Lewin in the summer.
Arsenal are almost certainly going to be in the market for a striker at the end of the season.
The Gunners are already light in that position, but with Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah out of contract in the summer, they may not have a single senior number nine at the club come the end of the season.
All the signs point towards Arsenal going big for a striker this summer. They were making hefty bids for Dusan Vlahovic last month, and now that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has gone, there’s plenty of space on the wage bill.
Calvert-Lewin certainly wouldn’t be cheap. He’s a young English striker with bags of potential, but while he would be expensive, he could be worth it for Arsenal.
Calvert-Lewin could realistically lead Arsenal’s line for the best part of the next decade, and the ‘great athlete’ could be the perfect spearhead for the Gunners’ new-look energetic frontline.
He’s brilliant in the air and deadly in front of goal, and if Edu has any sense at all, he’ll heed the advice of those around him and make a move for Calvert-Lewin in the summer transfer window.
