Demarai Gray has lauded his Everton teammate and reported Newcastle target Dominic Calvert-Lewin as a ‘proper goalscorer’, as he told Sky Sports.
There’s no way Everton will even want to consider selling their star man, and that to a club that’s not even in Europe, but Newcastle might just upset a few people with the big pockets they now have.
The Telegraph claim that Newcastle are keen on signing the England international, who has become one of the top strikers in the division during the past 18 months.
Carlo Ancelotti helped transform the 24-year-old’s career by making him more selfish and efficient without the ball, it resulted in him scoring 16 goals in 33 league games last season – so, he is bound to have admirers.
But Gray, who joined the Toffees this summer, described him as a ‘proper athlete’ and he has plans to continue linking up with him at Goodison Park for the next few years.
“I have played with Dom from England days,” said Gray. “I am well aware of him. He is a great athlete.
“Over the last few years, he has turned into a proper goalscorer. Me and him have good chemistry, in the first few games, we have played.
“Other than this season, in the next few years, we will contribute with a few goals and stuff for each other.”

Everton have spent hundreds of hundreds of millions during the past few seasons, got nowhere, stood still and probably even stagnated.
They haven’t done it for no reason, but to try and get to the top of English football, just like Newcastle will now be aiming for.
The problem the Magpies will face is that clubs won’t want to sell to them knowing their situation, they will be more stubborn and inflate prices even more.
That’s not unrealistic targets like Calvert-Lewin, but those who are realistic, because the whole footballing world now knows that Newcastle’s pockets are pretty full.
