Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl remains unconvinced by Angus Gunn with Premier League newcomers Norwich City looking to bring a former player back to Carrow Road, as reported by The Athletic.
Absolutely no one came out of that infamous 9-0 defeat to Leicester City in late-2019 with any credit.
But Gunn, who spent most of that fateful evening picking the ball out the back of his net, has been scarred more than most by the joint-heaviest defeat in Premier League history.
A talented shot-stopper who joined from Manchester City in a £10 million deal three years ago has not made a single top-flight appearance for Southampton since Leicester ran riot, spending last season on loan at Stoke City.
Is Angus Gunn out of bullets at Southampton?
The Athletic reports that Gunn held ‘positive’ talks with goalkeeping coach Andrew Sparkes and director of football Matt Crocker recently.
There is one man that the 25-year-old is yet to win over, however. And it just so happens that the man in question is the one who really matters – Ralph Hasenhuttl himself.

The former RB Leipzig boss is unlikely to hand Gunn a second chance at St Mary’s.
Championship winners Norwich could come to his rescue, however, with Daniel Farke keen to bring back a goalkeeper who played 46 games for the Canaries during a successful loan spell in 2017/18.
“Angus is very highly-rated and a really talented goalkeeper,” Farke said during their time together at Carrow Road.
Alex McCarthy and Fraser Forster shared goalkeeping duties at Southampton last term, while Lazio contract-rebel Thomas Strakosha has recently been linked with a potential £25 million move to St Mary’s.
