West Ham United and Southampton target Thomas Strakosha could perform a U-turn on his Lazio future following the departure of manager Simone Inzaghi, as reported by Citta Celeste.
While most at the Stadio Olimpico would have been sad to see Inzaghi go – president Claudio Lotito was desperate to keep a coach who may now replace Antonio Conte at reigning Serie A champions Inter Milan – there is one man who may be breathing a sigh of relief.
Strakosha, the Albania international goalkeeper, had lost his place as Lazio’s number one during the final few months of the Inzaghi era.
So much so that, amid interest from Premier League duo West Ham and Southampton, the £25 million-rated shot-stopper was resisting Lazio’s attempts to extend his contract beyond the summer of 2022 (Il Messagero).
Is Thomas Strakosha heading to the Premier League?
Now, however, everything has changed.

Citta Celeste reports that the slate has been wiped clean for Strakosha following Inzaghi’s departure.
It remains to be seen, however, what the potential appointment of Maurizio Sarri means for the Greek-born glovesman. The report adds that Sarri, who is close to an agreement with Lazio, is a big fan of the man who took Strakosha’s place between the sticks at the Stadio Olimpico.
Then again, the soon-to-be 39-year-old figure of Pepe Reina is hardly a long-term option.
