New Middlesbrough manager Garry Monk
Garry Monk wants to make Nottingham Forest striker Britt Assombalonga his first Middlesbrough signing, according to Sky Sports.
Assombalonga scored 14 goals from 20 Championship starts last season as Forest avoided relegation on goal difference, and is said to be at the top of Monk’s transfer wishlist.

Middlesbrough are determined to return to the Premier League at the first time of asking – a prospect which is sure to appeal to the 24-year-old.
However, the Teessiders are likely to have to fork out to prise Assombalonga away from the City Ground, with Forest said to have turned down a £7 million approach from Norwich City a year ago [Daily Mail], shortly before handing the Congolese a new five-year contract.
While Forest would be loathe to lose Assombalonga, his departure could be softened somewhat by the seemingly imminent arrival of Hibernian striker Jason Cummings.

Middlesbrough are also being linked a move for Everton winger Aiden McGeady [Irish Independent].
