David Luiz is now unlikely to be at Arsenal next season, Football London report.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has been stalling over handing Luiz a contract extension, with his future at the Emirates Stadium now firmly in doubt.

And it seems that Luiz is getting closer and closer to the exit at Arsenal now.

Luiz has been used fairly frequently by Arteta this season, but the Spanish manager has made no secret of his desire to have a shake-up in the summer.

With Luiz’s contract running down, Arsenal may decide that now is the time to release the 33-year-old and free up some wages for their planned additions.

Arsenal reportedly want to give chances to both William Saliba and Dinos Mavropanos next term, while Calum Chambers has forced his way back into contention.

It means that Luiz is now reportedly looking likely to leave North London in the imminent future.

Arteta has always spoken very positive about Luiz during his time in charge, and even labelled him as ‘fantastic’ earlier this season (Club’s official website).

But Arsenal are building a vibrant young team, and the decision to promote Saliba ahead of him, will surely benefit the Gunners in the long run.
