Arsenal defender David Luiz is set to be released, according to The Sun.
Luiz’s contract runs down at the end of the season, with the Brazilian defender’s future now very uncertain.
Mikel Arteta has played Luiz fairly regularly and his influence on the club’s youngsters has been talked up regularly.
In recent days reports have suggested that Luiz will be offered a new deal by the Gunners.
However, The Sun now claim that Arsenal are set to axe him at the end of the term.
They claim that Luiz won’t actually be offered a new contract, as Arsenal want to reduce their expenditure.

Luiz is on a sizeable contract at the Emirates Stadium, so letting him go would free up considerable room in their wage bill.
If Arsenal were to offload Luiz, who Arteta has described as ‘fantastic’ on the club’s official website, then they would be losing an experienced member of their first-team squad.
But the 33-year-old has not always been the most convincing defensively, and his departure would also free up room for William Saliba to come back into contention, after his loan spell at Nice.
