Lazio have reportedly joined the race to sign Tottenham target Vitinha, with former Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri a fan of the FC Porto midfielder.

According to Il Messaggero via LazioNews24, the former Wolves loanee is one of two midfielders the Italian manager is eager to sign this summer, with Sassuolo star Maxime Lopez also on Lazio’s radar ahead of the transfer window.

Vitinha has been one of Porto’s most promising players this season and is showing signs of becoming one of the next best Portuguese midfielders to come from the Primeira Liga, with Tottenham reportedly also interested in the 22-year-old.

As reported by Mercado Azul, Spurs are looking to sign the Porto youngster ahead of the summer window, with Wolves also looking to land Vitinha on a permanent deal since his loan spell with the Premier League club.

Hailed as a ‘remarkable player’ by Vitinha’s agent as per A Bola, the Portugal U-21 international could be a heavily sought-after player this summer, with Lazio now interested in the midfielder on top of Tottenham and Wolves.

Indeed, Porto will likely allow offers in for the midfielder, who this season has played just 18 games this season, meaning Vitinha himself could be open to a move if it allows him to play more regular first-team football.

Lazio could pose threat to Tottenham for Vitinha

A move seems to be on the cards for Vitinha this summer, yet whilst Tottenham would be the bigger club to move to in this situation, Lazio could pose a huge threat to the north London side.

After all, Lazio will likely offer Vitinha the platform to play regular football in a top European league, whilst Antonio Conte and Tottenham could only view the young Portuguese midfielder, who could cost a reported £17m, as a bench player and a talent for the future.
