According to an article penned by Alan Nixon on his Patreon, Everton are preparing a move for Southampton right-back Kyle Walker-Peters.

The England international has been brilliant for Saints since leaving Tottenham back in 2020, but after the emergence of Tino Livramento, his days at St Mary’s may well be numbered.

Everton have emerged as a possible destination for the full-back, and according to this report, they could sign him for between £10-15m.

The Toffees will apparently discuss a fee with Southampton in the coming days ahead of a potential move.

Southampton are apparently already looking at potential replacements, so don’t be shocked if this is one that moves quickly.

The Merseyside club could certainly do with some reinforcements at right-back. Jonjoe Kenny has just left the club, Seamus Coleman isn’t getting any younger, while Nathan Patterson has struggled for fitness as of late.

So, what type of player would Everton be getting if they landed Walker-Peters?

Well, he’s been described as ‘fantastic’ by Micah Richards in the past, and he’s the archetypal modern full-back who can make an impact at either end of the pitch.

He’d certainly work well as a wing-back if Frank Lampard opts to use a five-at-the-back system as he did at times last term, but most of his experience has been in a back four, which is likely the role he’ll play should he join Everton.

This could be something of a coup for the Toffees and there’s reason to believe that Walker-Peters could be Coleman’s long-term successor at Goodison Park.
