Micah Richards has said on The Monday Night Club on BBC Radio 5 Live (7:38pm, February 14, 2022) that Southampton defender Kyle Walker-Peters has been “fantastic” since leaving Tottenham Hotspur.
The former Manchester City defender has been impressed by how Walker-Peters has done at Southampton since leaving Tottenham in 2020.
The 24-year-old English full-back spent the second half of the 2019-20 season on loan at Southampton before making the move permanent in the summer of 2020.
Southampton paid Tottenham £12m million as transfer fee (The Daily Mail).
Richards said about Walker-Peters on The Monday Night Club on BBC Radio 5 Live (7:38pm, February 14, 2022): “Normally when you leave Spurs, is it really going to work out? Will he play a lot? He has been fantastic as well.”
Tottenham Hotspur exit has helped Kyle Walker-Peters
In our view, Walker-Peters is flourishing at Southampton, and that is because he left Tottenham.
Now, of course, Tottenham are a bigger club than Southampton, but the 24-year-old was not getting enough chances under then Spurs head coach Jose Mourinho.

Walker-Peters is now a regular in the Southampton team and has played predominately at left-back this season.
The Southampton no. 2 has scored one goal and provided two assists in 18 Premier League appearances so far this season.
The former Tottenham full-back has scored one goal and given one assist in two Carabao Cup ties and has scored one goal in one FA Cup tie this campaign.
During the 2020-21 season, Walker-Peters gave two assists in 30 Premier League matches for Southampton.
