According to Eindhoven Dagblad, Everton must pay €15 million (£13 million) to sign Denzel Dumfries from PSV Eindhoven.

What’s the story?

Well, a report from VI – covered by us earlier – simply revealed that the Toffees are keen to sign the 18-cap Netherlands international.

Now, Eindhoven Dagblad have advanced the story.

In their fresh report, it is said that Dumfries wanted to leave PSV Eindhoven in January.

The right-back has two years left on his contract with the Eredivisie outfit, and is well liked by a senior figure at Everton – Marcel Brands.

Interestingly, Brands – Director of Football at Everton – worked close to Dumfries when he held the same role at PSV Eindhoven.

Eindhoven Dagblad believe Brands has been ‘charmed’ by the 25-year-old, and is utterly convinced of his qualities.

Dumfries is just what Everton need

If Everton only make one signing this summer, it has to be a right-back.

Seamus Coleman is 32 years of age, and Jonjoe Kenny doesn’t seem to be in the running as his long-term replacement.

A fresh face in the right-back department is desperately needed.

In Dumfries, Everton have identified a clever target.

He is someone who is arguably yet to hit his peak.

Dumfries is also a player who Everton should feel comfortable signing even without a manager, as Brands knows all about him.

Forget the fact Carlo Ancelotti left – Everton have to get this deal wrapped up before another club enters the race.

Dumfries is captain of PSV Eindhoven, and also an experienced international.

If he truly is on the market for just £13 million, other clubs will surely get involved if Everton waste time twiddling their thumbs.
