Well, it looks like Everton are on the brink of signing Dwight McNeil.
According to The Athletic on Wednesday, the player was poised to undergo a medical with the Toffees ahead of a transfer to Goodison Park.
And 90 Min has revealed now that not only has the player completed his medical, but that a £20 million transfer is looking imminent.
The report adds that the Blues had ‘moved swiftly’ to secure the signature.
It hasn’t been a busy summer window for Frank Lampard and the Merseysider so far and this, if it materialises shortly, will be their second signing of the off-season.
James Tarkowski on a Bosman is their only pre-season addition thus far.
It’s absolutely vital that Everton enjoy a productive last month of the window.
Remember, Lampard’s troops almost got themselves relegated from the Premier League last season and without major investment, it seems unlikely that the 2022-23 campaign will prove much more fruitful.
Even if McNeil gets over the line, the Toffees will still need much more than just him and Tarkowski.
