According to The Sunday Mirror (06/06, p78), Everton target Sergio Romero is now tempted to reunite with Jose Mourinho at Roma.
Manchester United have confirmed that Romero is leaving on a free transfer this summer with his contract coming to an end later this month.
The Argentinian didn’t play a single game for United last season and now needs to find first-team football elsewhere.
Everton interest
Everton wanted Romero back in October, but with United blocking the move – despite Romero being third-choice – the Toffees signed Robin Olsen on loan from Roma instead.
Olsen’s loan is now over, and the Daily Mail reported in April that Romero wants to join Everton this summer, finally joining the club after all.
Carlo Ancelotti’s exit shouldn’t be a factor here; director of football Marcel Brands is driving the interest having previously signed Romero for AZ Alkmaar.

Mourinho’s hijack attempt
New Roma boss Jose Mourinho is now in the race though, with The Telegraph first reporting his interest in May.
The Mirror’s latest report claims Mourinho is now going to make Romero an offer, and the 34-year-old stopper is ‘tempted’ to make the move.
Mourinho worked with Romero at United, and that could now help Roma beat Everton to the freebie goalkeeper.
