Antonio Conte has reportedly laid Tottenham’s January transfer problems on club chairman Daniel Levy.
According to the Daily Mail, the Italian coach was left frustrated by how the transfer budget was handled this January, with Levy the man in charge of this aspect of the club.
Tottenham made two deadline signings in the form of Rodrigo Bentancur and Dejan Kulusevski. However, Spurs’ January was plagued with transfer missteps and embarrassing episodes for the club.
Adama Traore was close to joining the club according to reports. However, the Spanish attacker ended up signing for FC Barcelona on loan, whilst non-league talent Ollie Tanner also rejected a move to Tottenham as reported by Sky Sports News.
As well as struggling to sign players, outgoings proved to be a nuisance for the north London club. In the end, four senior names left Tottenham in the final week of the transfer window, with Dele Alli the only one to leave on a permanent transfer.
Indeed, with Conte’s frustrations lying with Levy, it explains why Tottenham’s January window was as sloppy as it was, with the Spurs chairman notorious for being difficult to work with for Spurs managers.
Levy can’t make same mistake for Conte and Tottenham in the summer

Conte knew what he was getting himself into when he decided to join Fabio Paratici in Tottenham, and in the summer, Levy can’t allow himself to be tight with finances in what will be a huge transfer window for the club.
Whilst Conte could lead Spurs to top-four, there’s no denying the north London side need huge investment in the summer if they are to compete with the biggest clubs in the Premier League, and Levy must give the Italian the finances to work his magic.
