Karim Adeyemi’s proposed move to Borussia Dortmund could be on the verge of breaking down, with the Bundesliga side struggling to find the finances to complete the deal.
According to Ruhr Nachrichten, Dortmund’s current situation is making it difficult to sign Adeyemi, with RB Salzburg demanding €42m (£35m) for the German international, yet this situation is likely to change if Erling Haaland is sold this summer.
As per the report, whilst Dortmund will have the funds to sign Adeyemi given how likely it is Haaland will leave in the off-season, Salzburg are demanding the money from the Bundesliga side now, something they simply do not have, meaning the deal could be off.
Adeyemi has been a breakout star for Salzburg this season and the latest Red Bull product to excite European football, and this latest update from Germany could be music to both Liverpool and Tottenham.
As reported by Bild, Liverpool were at one point leading the race for Adeyemi in the later months of 2021, with Sport1 also claiming that Tottenham were interested in the German international, as well as Newcastle United.
With Salzburg coach Matthias Jaissle labelling Adeyemi as ‘the perfect talent’ in recent weeks, the 20-year-old could now be set for a move to the Premier League with a move to Dortmund now hanging by a thread, with Liverpool and Tottenham now having an opportunity that is too good to turn down.
Dortmund update must Liverpool and Tottenham to sign Adeyemi
19 goals in all competitions is an impressive tally for a player experiencing their first full season with a top-flight club, and for Liverpool and Tottenham, they simply have to step their game up to sign Adeyemi following this new report from Dortmund.
Both clubs are in a position to add more firepower this summer, and given Adeyemi’s potential and current talent, the German would be a perfect addition for Liverpool and Tottenham with Dortmund now slipping out of the race for the striker.
