Juventus centre-back Matthijs de Ligt could push for a summer move this year, with Tottenham one of the clubs interested in the Dutch international.
According to CalcioMercato, the Serie A star is keeping his options open ahead of the summer transfer window, with Juventus yet to discuss renewing De Ligt’s contract which is due to expire in 2024.
The 22-year-old has a release clause of €75m (£63m), and according to previous reports, Tottenham are interested in De Ligt, with CalcioMercato stating that Antonio Conte and Fabio Paratici are huge fans of the Juventus defender.
Defence has been a major issue for Tottenham this season, with the north London club this weekend losing 2-0 to Wolves in what is their third consecutive loss, something that Conte has not experienced in many years.
And De Ligt could be the perfect player to solve these problems at the back. With Bleacher Report hailing the youngster as ‘generational’, the Juventus star could be both a quick-fix for Tottenham as wail as a cornerstone for the club for many years to come.
Indeed, UEFA Champions League qualification could be key to Tottenham’s pursuit for De Ligt, and with Chelsea also in the mix, it will take some convincing to land the Juventus defender in the summer.
Tottenham should be watching De Ligt’s Juventus future with interest

With De Ligt playing a starring role for the Old Lady this season, it is more than likely that the towering defender will renew with the Old Lady despite interest from Paratici and Chelsea, yet this could change depending on future updates.
After all, De Ligt could be swayed to join the Premier League should Juventus fail to renew the Dutchman’s contract, and the former Ajax star could be tempted to play under the likes of Conte at Tottenham should an offer come in during the summer.
