West Ham’s proposed deal to sign Villarreal attacker and rumoured Liverpool target Arnaut Danjuma is now reportedly off, with David Moyes having doubts over the winger’s temperament.

According to the Express, West Ham’s transfer for Danjuma ‘won’t be happening’ following reports that Moyes had doubts about Danjuma’s attitude and work off the ball, speculation that has not gone down well within the player’s camp, with the deal now seemingly off because of it.

Reports last week suggested that the transfer between Villarreal and West Ham was close, with the Irons looking likely to beat the likes of Liverpool to the Netherlands international, however, these dreams of Danjuma signing for the east London club now look dead and buried.

With reports over a £50m price tag, Danjuma would have cost West Ham a club-records transfer fee, with Moyes eager to improve his side’s attacking options as the Scottish manager heads into next season with dreams of getting West Ham into the top-four.

Indeed, missing out on signing a player of Danjuma’s quality is a big blow for West Ham. However, with the manager not sold on the winger’s mentality and his ability on the ball, Moyes is making a calculated risk in pulling out of a deal to sign the talented forward.

An attacker has been West Ham’s main transfer target for what feels like forever, and missing out on Danjuma could be seen by supporters as a lack of ambition from the club. However, Moyes is a smart manager who has so far proven to be incredible at bringing in the right players for the Irons, and the Scottish coach could have something planned.

After all, Moyes knows that an attacker is key for West Ham’s success next season, and whilst Danjuma would have been a great signing for the east London side, the veteran Premier League manager might have something in the works that could take the Hammers’ front line to the next level.
