According to the Daily Mail, David Sullivan is keen to bring Tottenham target Memphis Depay to West Ham.
What’s the story?
Well, according to the print version of the Daily Mail (August 13th, page 113), Sullivan believes the Dutchman represents good value for money, although David Moyes wants to pursue other targets.
It comes after Tottenham expressed a willingness to spend £15m on Depay.
Barcelona are desperate to offload the Netherlands international as they aim to reduce their wage bill, and have been offering him around to many clubs in Europe.
The Daily Mail add that Barcelona are willing to release him if they are unable to find any suitors.
Depay, who earns £158,000-a-week at the Camp Nou, is also wanted by Everton.
By the sounds of it, there could soon be unrest among the hierarchy at the London Stadium with Sullivan and Moyes in disagreement over whether or not to sign the Netherlands international.
Sullivan’s interest in Depay comes after he scored 13 goals in 36 outings for Barcelona last season.
Who West Ham could sign instead of Tottenham target Depay
So, Moyes wants to pursue other targets, but who is out there?
One option for the east Londoners is Marseille striker Bamba Dieng, who is keen to leave the French side.
West Ham are believed to be interested in the forward who has been likened to Sadio Mane.
However, they face competition from Newcastle and Leeds for the Senegal international.
The Irons have also expressed an interest in Bordeaux forward Hwang Ui-Jo, so there are certainly options out there aside from Depay.
Keep an eye on this situation, as it will be interesting to see if Moyes and Sullivan can put their differences aside and bring another striker to West Ham, after the signing of Gianluca Scamacca.
