According to Milliyet, Crystal Palace may just have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Lucian Favre after Fenerbahçe moved on.
What’s the story?
Well, the Turkish news outlet claim that Fenerbahçe had a meeting with Favre, but are now close to hiring someone else.
Milliyet state that Marco Silva has accepted a proposal from the Süper Lig side, and they are preparing to announce his arrival.
Now, this is very interesting, as the Guardian revealed that Crystal Palace sounded out Favre, and are set to talk to the Swiss coach in the coming days.
Have Crystal Palace turned Lucian Favre’s head?

It’s very possible that Favre sat down with Fenerbahçe holding the intention to join them, only to have his head turned.
After all, the 63-year-old – who’s been described as ‘outstanding’ by Mario Götze – does want to manage in the Premier League, according to the Guardian.
While that is speculative, it’s safe to say Crystal Palace will be boosted by the fact a rival for Favre’s services are now close to hiring someone else.

It will be interesting to see how Steve Parish’s talks with Favre go, as he would be a fantastic choice to replace Roy Hodgson.
Despite being sacked by Borussia Dortmund in December, he is a high-level coach with plenty of Champions League experience.
If the Eagles can secure his services, it would be a real coup.
