The former Bayern Munich loanee looked to be headed for Southampton, but Crystal Palace could snare him instead.
Crystal Palace could hijack Southampton’s move for Spartak Moscow defender Serdar Tasci, according to the Daily Mail.
Tasci was reportedly set for a medical on the south coast, ahead of a half-season loan to the Saints.

However, Palace are claimed to have made an approach to sign the former Germany international on a permanent basis.

Both clubs are desperate to add to their centre-back options this month and Tasci is not their only shared target, with Tuesday’s Sun newspaper reporting that the pair could pounce on Anderlecht’s Kara Mbodji, after Leicester City had an improved £9 million bid offer rejected by the Belgian side.

Southampton are arguably in greater need of reinforcements, having sold Jose Fonte to West Ham United and lost Virgil van Dijk to injury, while Palace are also said to have a medical arranged for Uruguayan free agent Martin Caceres.

The Sun has also linked the Saints with a move for Celtic’s Erik Sviatchenko, although Claude Puel’s men are running out of time to bolster their options.
